Hail Lady; Loved your piece on Metaphysics. It seems that modern science, in its own way, is trying to bridge the gap between the two in the field of quantum physics and string theory. I say that because my biggest field of study is a phenomenon called "rifts", and that has a history going back many millenia, and usually tied to ancient mystery schools. In the Bible, in Genesis chapter 11, there is an interesting blurb about the tower of Babel that everyone was trying to build. They wanted it to reach Heaven. Now, I'm sure the best of them knew they couldn't build a tower that would top their highest mountain or intersect with the orbit of the moon, or they would have built it ON the mountain top rather than the plain of Shinar. Interestingly enough, the Bible states that Yahweh watched them build it and knew if he let them continue, they would accomplish this feat. SO... it's not a really TALL tower, but a stage for a tesseract they were building. A construct capable of allowing them to pass into the PLANE of Heaven (without having to die first) You know the old saying: Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die. Well, I've been busting my eyeballs in Scientific American and Discovery Magazines, and lo and behold, these eggheads are talking about a multidimensional universe in string theory and quantum physics, and are producing formulae that support this. They are being very carefull not to use occult jargon, but they are saying much as the great magi have said all along. They propose that there are as many as 11 dimensions (or least that many that they are aware of mathematically). Our universe operates in only 4 of these Length, breadth, depth, and time (these factor in any point we wish to travel to in ours). A fellow by the name of Edward Witten, has even gone so far as to describe the extradimensional traits as the M - Factor (M as in Magick, no less). I notice a human trait in science, that for instance, in the field of medicine, they tend to view the human organism as nothing more than flesh, blood and bone, and then marvel at how a known chemical reaction will fail to save an individual with all the right body signs... and anything workable, that considers a human being as being a little more than a biological machine is considered an alternate therapy, though it produces results every bit as profound as a hypo full of joy juice. Physics and Metaphysics, like the medicine, in my view, would be best studied holisticly, as a whole and not two seperate parts or disciplines, because the seperation of body, soul and mind exists ONLY in the minds of very small minded scientists. I think if you overlay the two, you have a very deep and profound picture to look at. Or did I get too geek for you here?

Very interesting Stormm. I have long been interested in Tesseracts, ever since I first read the book "A Wrinkle In Time" as a young child. Then of course came the "Super String Theory". If you haven't read it I might suggest "The Elegant Universe". While it does contain some mathmatical formulas it is written with the less geeky in mind. Facinating subject. Now I have always believed that anceint cultures were in some respect more advanced than our oun but to think that a Tesseract was being built in biblical times and that they almost succeeded is mind blowing. We are not far from developing Worm Holes ouselves.
I love quantum physics.

The University of Rochester (New York), a not-so-secret CIA shop, has a really interesting gizmo that fires all these powerful lasers in a spherical set up at a central point, to study the quantum physics involved. There were some articles about it in Discovery Magazine some months back. I can almost feel it when they start making waves with that thing. The area has many of its own rifts, but I beleive this thing is manufacturing more. It has something to do with superceding the speed of light, with the coherent, energized variety. It's a pretty expensive toy, but I think it would do them more good if it were mobile, then they could truck it out to a thin spot and open it enough to pass through. I've done it with a lot less energy. But where and when you open into, changes with the times and locations, much like when they were looking into boxes for quarks. The added dimensionality expands your degree of freedom. Let's say, you draw a two dimensional character. Mr. Two has length and breadth, but no depth. Now, as a three dimensional creature (actually four, but I won't complicate this needlessly) you want to communicate with Mr. Two and extend your finger to tap him on the shoulder. He can only travel the space of the paper he's on, and percieve only two dimensions, even though you are three. He is not aware of your "depth" as it is an entirely foreign concept to him, and instead of a finger approaching him, he is only aware of this growing circle expanding to take up his space (that his body occupies). In some ways, having this extradimensionality, you can know Mr. Two better than he even knows himself and have an entire range of options and freedoms he can never conceive of. You are pure magick to him... likewise, for the Mr. Fours, Fives and Sixes that might want to visit you. They would appear to be popping in an out of your perception like magick, and perceive facets of you (like your thoughts, for instance) as clearly as you see the screen in front of you. The degree of freedom allows them to move and interact in ways you can not imagine (or have great difficulty imagining, in some cases). Those ancient Sidhe, and Tuatha Danaans who were displaced by humanity, are said to have escaped to the "Otherworld", which is merely another of many multiverses, quantumly speaking. The "tesseract" is a neat "machine" as is a wheel or a fulcrum or a number of objects that allow a person to manipulate physics. The fulcrum would allow a 98 lb weakling to move a 500 lb anvil, because it manipulates the laws of physics in their behalf. Also the design of a simple wing, utilizing lift, thrust and drag in a combination, allows a person to supercede the law of gravity for a time. A Cheops pyramid will keep razor blades sharp and new... and a tesseract will allow a change to the law that says the shortest distance between two points is a straight line to a folded intervening space and time. I geeked out again didn't I?

Facinating. Now I have always thought that sound waves could be used to levitate objects. Since the idea of the super string is that they produce differant types of matter (in the form of Protons, Neutrons and the like) by the way they viberate, it would seem that viberations are an important aspect of our reality.
It says in the bible that the word was with God and that God said let there be light and there was. It also says that if you have the faith of a musterd seed you could move mountains. Now in magic we use verbal intonation, and visualization to manifest our will in the physical world. Verbalization = viberation, Visualization = the will to manifest. So with that in mind one could open a "hole" in space and time with the right verbal intonations and visaulizational focus. I believe I once almost accomplished this with the help of a couple of friends using only our "imaginations and or will to be in another place and time. Of course as you spoke of we were near a thin area. What the nature of the "space" beyond was we can only guess but as children it frightened us badly. I laugh now and often wonder what would have become of us had we stayed in the area.
This reminds me of a time when I was staying at a friends camper. I went to sleep and dreamed that his camper shell grew a steering wheel and I took it for a spin. Everything was quite vivid but as dawn approached I knew I had to return. By the time I got back the sun was just about to crest over the red rock and so I hurridly parked the shell but I didn't have enouph time to park it as I had found it. We were awoken sometime later that morning by another friend who wanted to know sho had moved the camper (the camper was on cinder blocks and would have taken at least 3 big men to move). When I looked, it was parked exactly as I had parked it in my "dream". I am still curious as to what happened that night. If I accomplished this in a dream what then could I do fully concious?
Just musing. I think I've rambeled off topic but the idea is that I beleive we can enter these other realms easier than we might believe and that we can influence our oun realities in the same way.
I've posted in another forum what I call the "Blue Feather Effect" I think I'll have to make another post on just that subject here. It is basically a tried and true method of mind influencing matter or reality.

Of course as you spoke of we were near a thin area. What the nature of the "space" beyond was we can only guess but as children it frightened us badly. I laugh now and often wonder what would have become of us had we stayed in the area. A couple of things would have happened. First, as you entered, your physical bodies would resonate with the vibrations of the place you visit. You could do this for a while, but not indefinitely as your make-up is foreign to that realm. Eventually, anywheres from a few minutes to a few hours, longer if it's a place you are really in tune with, you begin to resonate "home" and find yourself back in your own plane, usually not too far from where you entered. But my son and I have crossed Ohio (from Cleveland to Toledo in about 10 minutes with only 11 miles showing on the odometer... but we were pushing to go west and somewhere, just outside Cleveland's suburbs, we folded space. Sort of makes you look at reality (or what is accepted by most as such) in a whole new light, doesn't it. I have some brother-in-laws that have literally curled up in the fetal position, thumbs in mouths, because while being with me, reality did not behave as they thought it should. There is a good reason why only *some* people are ever witches or wizards. And having that handle on reality, is one of them... even a lunatic, perceives something real, but it unhinges them... the wizard or witch will inspect and question it and use their marbles, rather than lose them. That, precisely IS the topic, or where it was heading. We establish the foundation of the principles and then we check out the rest of the building. Without that, the conversation comes back and recognises only the principles... set them first, and now we take the conversation to higher conclusions. You've got an excellent hat rack sitting atop those shoulders, Roy. I wish Merlinus wasn't moving so soon, I think you'd fit in well to our late night chats over a snifter of blackberry brandy or tea. Some people could look their whole lives, and never learn or see what we have, and some of us were born to surf those wavelengths. I'd like to read that.

Here's a bit of family lore. We've got this saying and sign when we're serious about something, where we will hold two fingers (index & middle) beneath out eyes and say something like "witch's honor". I t sounds corny, but it has a very valid meaning. A witch's power is tied irrevocably to two things, their will and their word. Both must be unbreakable, for many good reasons, and all of them contribute to your overall power to effect and change your environment. Firstly, when you need aid from non-human help, having this sort of reputation will get you ready help when they are sure you are the type who would rather die than break their word. Nothing mortifies me more than to be taken for the typical "white man" among nonwhites, as they have a culture where they will say anything and mean nothing, but in mine, it makes you the lowest of the low, but I digress... the thing is, a lifetime of that kind of upbringing and ingrained attitude also prepares you well for exactly the kind of effect you mentioned, and gives it more weight.

TIME, NOW, AND THE VOID
The word "void" is being used a lot these days by scientists, metaphysicians, and even Madison Avenue. What I have never heard anyone discuss however, is that there is a difference between the scientific definition of dimensions and the occult definitions. And therefore, a difference in what "the void" actually means. Many speak of the void, as the space between the stars, as in the void of space. But we all know that that void is full of energy. Others equate it with the zero point energy field. But I believe the void is another step in subtlety beyond that. Consider that in science, the line is said to have one dimension, and the point is said to be dimensionless, and represents the void. But in the occult, the line, (or the lingam, or tower,) signifies the second dimension, and therefore, exits in two dimensions, while the point represents the first dimension, and exists in one dimension. But how can a point have one dimension? How can a line, which has only length, and no height or width, have two dimensions? We will see.. Consider that time is called the fourth dimension. But look at the line. Scientifically, a line is said to have one dimension, length. But does a line disappear as soon as it is drawn? No. A line has duration. It exists in time. Therefore, as the occultists say, a line has two dimensions, time and length. And the point also exists in time, and is therefore, not dimensionless. A particle that has no duration is called a virtual particle. A line that has no duration, is called a virtual line. Time is not the fourth dimension, but the first. And within that first dimension, there are numerous sub- dimensions of time. The scientific definitions of point and line have worked for mapping the out world, in the old definition of physical. But within the quantum realm, and esoterically, there are problems. For if one follows the scientific version inward, then the seeker will reach the line, and think it is unity, and will reach the point, and think it is the void.
"Now", can lead to the Void.
"Now" is an esoteric reality that is, perhaps forever, beyond the realm of experimental physics. The now transcends the present and includes all of time. To see things as they are, is to see, at the same time, how they were and will be. This includes the self. The way to experience the now is to shrink our awareness to a grain of time size, at which point it is so fast that it is everywhen. We could also reach the now by expanding our time awareness to include all of the past, present and future. Either way, we get the same result, whether we go as small as possible or as large as possible. How to escape from space-time? Simply be now enough in either direction.
Vibration is intimately connected to time. All kinds of time. From the phonons, the quanta of action produced by the simplest of all motions, the oscillation of a subatomic particle, to the slow tick-tock of the cesium atom, to the eon long waves of the birth and death of stars, oscillation is time. And recall, that in the pre-big bang singularity, the free flowing quarks, so pressed together that in accordance with the strong force, they possess absolute freedom, are rapidly vibrating, producing multitudes of phonons. The singularity is a ball of sound. For a touch of religion, we can say, first there was the word, first, there was sound, oscillation, time. Yes, earlier, sound was defined as oscillation. And so was sex. So we hear the new physicists say that time is multidimensional, and wonder if they can feel and hear it? Indeed, that is how we can know the void. For, at the point, the oneness, the "on" aspect of the binary field, we can hear the most beautiful music of all, multidimensional time itself. The void is one step farther, it is absolute silence, the "off" aspect of the digital quantum foam.
What is 'quantum foam'?
dat's right I posted about Quantum Foam Weeeeeee!!!
This is an idea that was originally proposed by Nobel physicist John Wheeler back in the early 1960's to describe what space-time 'looks like' at scales of 10^-33 centimeters.
The basic idea is that gravity is a field with many of the same fundamental properties as the other fundamental 'force' fields in Nature. This means that the state of this field is, at some level, uncertain and described by quantum mechanics. Since Einstein's general theory of relativity requires that gravitational fields and space-time be one and the same mathematical objects, this means that space-time itself is also subject to the kinds of uncertainty required by quantum systems. This indeterminacy means that you cannot know with infinite precision BOTH the geometry of space-time, and the rate of change of the space-time geometry, in direct analogy with Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle for quantum systems.
Wheeler imagined that this indeterminacy for space-time required that at the so-called Planck Scale of 10^-33 centimeters and 10^-43 seconds, space-time has a foaminess to it with sudden changes in its geometry into a wealth of complex shapes and textures. You would have quantum black holes appear at 10^-33 centimeters, then evaporate in 10^-43 seconds. Wormholes would form and dissolve, and later theorists even postulated 'baby universe' production could happen under these conditions.
The problem is that we have no evidence that 1) gravity is a quantum field and 2) that space-time has this type of structure at these scales.

Round about the late sixties, it became "chic", and my cousin, Leona and I "came out" and proudly proclaimed our heritage. I remember our family's "womens circle" (witchy aunties, grandma and cousins) warned us that we were risking our lives revealing ourselves as such. Remember the burning times, they said. Hell, even in modern America, you got a LOT of perscution if your community knew you were a witch. I told them, "Now they don't burn us, they invite us to expensive parties!" In spite of that, the gossipy old crones in the neighborhood had me as the wildest thing going, and the father of many a bastard before I was 16. Which was amusing, since as a good witch I remained a virgin, for the wild magick only a virgin can muster, till I was 21. I would have stuck to that even longer, if I wasn't an enforced solitaire with no family support. I said what the hell, I'm lonely, she's cute and willing... and it wasn't worth the trade (then).

Others equate it with the zero point energy field. Now, THERE is a TRUE mythical beast for you. The old joke goes that witches ride brooms, because NATURE ABHORS A VACCUUM. One of those "scientific laws" they'll toss in a heartbeat to push a theory. Whoa! Rewind this and rethink... the line drawn, is a "representation" and not the actuality here. The duration you speak of, exists only for the four dimensional man trying to draw a one dimensional line in a four dimensional multiverse. You could also consider that the line has a width in context with the fine or medium tipped ball point pen you used to draw it, but conceptually, those elements don't exist in the representation. VERY true! "in the beginning, God... and then everything else started happening." Perhaps "stasis" would be the better interpretation of the Void, because in stasis, all becomes void. No cause, no effect, no beginning, no end... just an eternal "now". In the Celtic druidic view, this plane would be called "Ceugant" or Eternity. It is a place where God could be still watching David singing to his father's sheep to calm them, and seeing his son's sacrifice, millenia later, and the results of the effect of that in our lives even further in the future... but the "now" of it is still dynamic and not static. People need to perceive time here as linear, but it's true nature is cyclical. The theories involving linear time fall short because of that single error. From the microcosmic to the macrocosmic. You escape space and time, in the same fashion you use factors to escape gravity. If you factor the proportions of lift, thrust, drag and weight, you can supercede the law of gravity and fly a multi-ton mass of metal and people through the skies. Note that you don't break or null that law, but supercede it. Just one of those factors fails, and the airplane comes down in the good old fashioned 32 feet per second, per second. Space and time are superceded by yet another simple machine (only in its context, but a tough nut for four D characters like ourselves) called a "tesseract". By its nature, it factors the dimensionalities to folds or "wormholes" in space and time. Another figurative term. You live on a two-by-four and want to get to a point on the other side of the board, so in this dimension, your options of travel are to go to the visible end of the plank and then climb over the edge and up the next surface and repeat the process yet again until you are standing on the far surface... or take a shortcut through a "wormhole" in the plank and make your destination in record time. Oscillation is cyclical. It's another metaphorical tool to help visualize a construct on a subatomic level. You look at a representation of an atom and you see these little spheres revolving around each other in a vaccuum, which nature will not allow to exist, so what is holding all these little devils together and not just having centrifugal force launch them all over the place, you illustrate the force as a "foam" where all the bubbles are held together in a cohesive unit like foam. Mrs.MH is going to believe her hubby has been snatched away to Geek Heaven. He's looking for a tesseract if you think about it. A combination of shapes and ratios comprise simple machines like wedges, lever and fulcrums, wheels, wings and you name it... each will allow you to do things in your environment that would not be possible without great extremes of power... the tesseract is another such "simple machine". There was a PBS special on string theory I caught a few weeks ago, that had something on that... but I can't recall it at the moment. It was still theoretical anyway.

By *some* standards, society is "dead"... the whole decomposing, stench and not going anywhere but plant food sort of thing. I've always been on the outside looking in with mankind, so I can relate to what you;re saying here. Hell, imagine living over a half century in a country, where you went ot school, college, served in the military and there is no record ANYWHERE that you were ever born. I've got a half-brother and three half sisters, an ex-wife, four children and two grandsons... all of them have birth certificates, but all I've ever had was a falsified baptismal certificate granted be a Lutheran pastor who later commited suicide that Uncle Sam won't accept anymore. For the past 5 months I've been going through every kind of court you can imagine to get a court ordered birth certificate (I am a semi-legal undocumented alien) but they can't deport me anywhere, because they don't know where to send me. And actually, they want me under their thumb, and I want to break their thumbs. My mother has a birth certificate (hers), but there's no record she gave birth to me... and I look just like her, except I'm much taller then all my siblings and can do some things that scare them dookeyless, except for my half-brother (I was always his hero). If not for my Grandmother, I would have been raised in a Catholic institution. She used to shudder at what I might have become. For me, SHE is my hero. Wow, I'll have to read a lot more of that later. I'm by no means an authority on mathematics and meta physics, and quantum theory. But it always seemed to me that Einstien must have skipped a few when he named time the fourth dimension. As far as "Mr. two" and how he percieved us fourth dimensioners, I came to a similar conclusion some time ago. If I could find the notes I took on the matter, I could go further. I used the difference between the first dimensions and used them to look for a trend, though I can't remember what the trend was, and I can't figure out where I wrote it. I used this dimensional trend to look for what characteristics other dimensions might have, and I think I reasoned out three other dimensions between volume and time (time being the dimension of change). As far as science and scientists are concerned, the approach, whether holistic or pure observation based "science" matters, but what always seems to matter most is the intent to find something. As far as molecular physics goes, as long as someone has been looking for something, they've found it. The hardest step to get past is believing that it's out there to be found. Then comes the finding billions of dollars to fund research and experimentation, and we have tax payers for that. I for one am not at all convinced that the "Extra dimensions" that are being searched for will turn out to be anything more than new ways of measuring and quantifying our inexplicably complex world. However, I do remember concluding that a being composed of 3 dimensions would only be able to perceive the effects of a being composed of more, never the being itself. But that's just linear mathematics (probably flawed linear mathematics at that) talking.
