Laurell K. Hamilton is the author for the Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter novels. Anita is an adult, mature version of Buffy who kicks bad guy a.ss big time. While she's not hunting vampires, silver bulleting werewolves or raising zombies (she works as an animator), she's trying to solve the confusing aspects her personal life keeps taking. My only complaint, the author, as the series progressed, has drifted away from the what the character's job is, to concentrate on her complicated love life; to the point that a good portion of the novels are now dedicated to graphic sex scenes, and barely any story line. Anita has so many lovers, I can't keep track of who she is in love with, who are her f**k buddies, or who she just needs to "feed" on for an occasional snack (feed as in feeding on sexual energy). The first 8 books in the series are very good, after that, it just get down right silly.

Yea, I actually liked them for a bit, but if the sex doesn't contribute to the story, which it doesn't after a bit, then why is it there? At least those are my feelings on it...

Exactly my point Dmitri. The books have increased in length, but the story line for each has diminshed. The current book I'm reading, "Incubus Dreams" has had two chapters, so far, that relate to a storyline, while the rest of the book is devoted to Anita's sexual encounters. I'm almost finished with it, and if this is anything like the previous book, the murders mentioned in the two chapters will be tied up in the last chapter. There was a third chapter that mentioned her profession, raising zombies, but even that ended with a sexual encounter after leaving the cemetery.

So, if anyone is interested in a pure porn book, "Danse Macabre" is the book for you. There is no story line, no mystery, just one character after another practically getting in line to f**k the main character, Anita Blake.
A total disappointment. Laurell K. Hamilton has a new book out, in hardcover, called "Harlequin", but I'll wait for the paperback. However, I may just skim through it in the bookstore, and if it's anything like the past few books, just may consider not wasting my money on the purchase.
