We've finally watched all of Firefly on DVD and just saw the movie, Serenity. Really good series, although I think it particularly took off after the first episode. The movie is also very good, although there were things I kept hoping it would resolve or at least go into that it didn't. Namely the background of one of the characters. Ah well. Great stuff, I wish they'd been allowed to make episodes for years and show everyone how good they are. Sigh.

nah nah, feel the pain of the rest of us Firefly fans everywhere, never get to solve the Mystery of Shepard Book's past Both Firefly and Serenity are fantastic, I'm just sad that it was not as popular as it was

Rincewind, so you still have the tv episodes on DVD? It'd love to see them. I own the movie and have seen that, but I haven't seen the episodes yet.

Yeah, we have the series on DVD. If you want to borrow it sometime, you can, either call us and swing by or pick it up at the next game next Sunday (14th). But for anyone, I'd really recommend watching the TV show BEFORE the movie. I'd imagine that the movie can stand by itself, but you miss out on all the character development and background without the show.
Edit: Oh, and Firefly has now given me 2 reasons to be ticked off at Fox. First cancelling Futurama, or leaving it in limbo so bad it's basically cancelled (Yay, Cartoon Network and Comedy Central for their work resurrecting it), and now Firefly. Both have done exceedingly well on DVD, and Futurama has kicked butt in syndication, so one has to wonder about why they'd want them dead to begin with.

<sigh> Makes me sad thinking about Firefly. Such good writing, cast was great.
It's funny though when it first came out I wasn't that impressed by it until I watched a few episodes after it was canceled and then I fell in love with it.
I've watched the series twice over already and it is still great. Just like Brisco County Jr. Love that series also.

Ah, My fellow Browncoats!!!!!! Yeah, what the hell is with Fox... they cancel Firefly, possibly one of the two greatest Sci Fi shows ever (the other being Farscape) I mean Fox is just dumb. The kill Firelfy, they killed our BDC's show "Drive" after 4 episodes... I swear if they cancel "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" I'm going to have a few unplesant words for Mr. Murdoch and everyone on down the line to the mail room clerk at Fox. I mean I'm boardering on a Denis Leary-esque rant on all this....

Don't forget the other great show they canceled JOHN DOE. Just when we were starting to get answers to the mysteries...POOF...it's gone.

Well this is Fox after all... they come up with amazing shows just so they can cancel them a week after the premiere. I was so annoyed with that show though, that's the second series I've seen kill off Sprauge Grayden. It's becoming an epidemic.

I finally put these episode DVD's in my queue with Netflix. I watched about half of the first disk so far. Pretty good, I think. I saw the movie first, I should have watched these first, I think.

I also am a great fan of Firefly. I was really impressed and we own the series on DVD. Serenity was good too but yeah, I was pretty upset when they canceled the show. It has so much potential. I loved the theme song too, country in a sci-fi. Gave it a real down to earth feel. No pun intended.
I also loved farscape but I lost interest during the ...what was it, protector war or something like that. And the evil purple guy. It did look like it was picking up again after they came back to earth but....
John Doe had me really intrigued. I didn't know they killed it before the mystery could be solved. How irritating.

I think the firefly soundtrack sounded a lot like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Music, from the original BBC production. It also went really well with the Sci Fi'd western theme of the show. I think the music was very well chosen.
I like it so far, but the Chinese expressions every now and then had me confused at first (it is chinese, right? Something like that)

Yeah, it's sortof Chinese, anyway. Or it's supposed to be, perhaps I should say. I think it's not exactly because of pronunciation difficulties. I've been meaning to post this but it sortof has spoilers for the Serenity movie. Still, any fans should check out the comic. digitalpimponline.com/strips.php?title=movie&id=59
