Hekate (spelled with the Grecian "k", as they did not have a "c") is often a misunderstood, or misaligned goddess. Hecate (ok, confused over the "c" and the "k"....the "k" related to her Grecian heritage, while the "c" more often times referred to her Roman counterpart...basically just to distinguish the two) is the goddess of the 3-way crossroads of life. She is NOT the Wiccan goddess that depicts the maiden, mother and crone. Nor is she the cruel bringer of death, as depicted by her Roman counterpart. EDIT: fix broken link

Correct me if im wrong... But wasn't Hecate also a famous vampire? In the vampire subculture, many look upon Hecate as the Dark Crone Goddess who leaves the Underworld at night to seek victims to satisfy her lust for blood. Hogwash!! The Romans, after conquering the Greeks, bastardized many of the deities, changing their names, and what they embodied. Unfortunately, many people in subcultures tend to take too much of the negative into their belief systems, more as an affront to "normal" society, or to make themselves look more dark and mysterious. But that's not the norm, and many of the vampire subculture are quite educated and seek out accuracy in their studies of the myths and folklore.
