This past weekend Geoff Tate was on "That Metal Show", on VH1 Classic. He was discussing their new album "American Soldier". It is a concept album 3 years in the making. His father was a career Military person, but never talked about his experiences. One day in 2006 he started telling him stories about, battles he was in, during Korea. Geoff got a Video camera and started recording, and thus began a journey. He spent the next several years, interviewing Vets and current soldiers. He took those stories, and proceeded to turn them into songs. The whole album, is songs based on those interviews. A lot of those songs, include the soldiers, from the interviews, talking in the song. The song "Unafraid" is a great example. It basically a bunch of different soldiers talking, in between the chorus of the song. However I think this is one of the best songs, and a very powerful Video for it. That is his 11 year old daughter in the video singing with him. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aPl_CeV_SA&feature=relatedI give this album a 10, mainly for the reason behind the album. Honestly I got it almost right away, after I found out about it, it's been out since March, LOL and love the whole album.
