Bio: John and Aeryn Crystin had gotten into more trouble with their hometown than they knew what to do with. Their sense of what was the good thing to do seemed to always be against the rules laid out in front of them. They had finally done something that their small community had considered so heinous, that they were to be executed.
Fearing their lives, and what was to happen to their young child, they fled. Even if they were going to be captured sooner or later, they had to find somewhere that they could leave their son, Jaehr. They managed to get as far as the dense jungles of Chult before those chasing them caught up. While Aeryn and her son were lucky enough to get away, John was not as lucky.
The woman had lost a lot of her will to continue on after seeing her husband being slayn in the distance as she ran as hard as she could. Not getting far in such a dangerous environment without gaining some attention, a group of Sylvan Elves rescued Aeryn and Jaehr as they were being attacked by a wild beast she had never seen before.
She explained to them the circumstance as well as she could since there was a definate language barrier. The Wood Elves took them in, but she knew their stay there couldn't be for long. She spent those few days in Chult instilling in her child a must, a need to follow the laws of the land and to do all in his power to make sure that those he gets close to in his life do the same. Following one's heart and conscience is what got his father killed.
Unfortunately, not long after she was given a chance to practice what she preached. Few days later, the same people who killed John had come for her. she willingly came with them. Jaehr watched as his mother disappeared with her captors and never saw her again.
The Sylvans, proving not to be the cold hearted Elven savages that they were made out to be, took him until he came of age, teaching him what he needed to know to take care of himself. To this day, he travels across the land alone for the most part. However he has made a small name for himself as a pretty decent guide and tracker, however, he only helps those that meet a certain criteria, which no one seems to have figured out.
Description:
Being that a good half of his years have been spent with or near the forests of his land and the other half in cities, he has two ways of carrying himself. When in cities, he seems to be very vigilant of his surroundings (possibly more so than when he is in the outdoors). For the most part he keeps himself covered up so that its easier to be lost in a crowd (and of course, if he needs to hide, it's much more simple to lose a cloak than it is to change clothes completely).
Outside of city walls, he is much more free and uncovered. His hazel eyes and reddish brown hair is seen. While clearly he is in his early twenties, his face holds a high level of maturity, as does his personality. He has on few occasions been seen with traditional Wild Elven camoflage make up on his face, but he typically saves that for when he is in the forests of those people.
When in forests and jungles, he does tend to act and move less like a human and more like the sylvans that raised him. Overall, he is soft-spoken and more about action than words. He does have no problem speaking up if something goes against his personal standards.

Don't forget, light weapon in off hand = 1/2 STR bonus to damage, rounded down.
So I think it should be (without a magic weapon) 1d6+1 for shortsword.
