Is this gonna be like Down the Dungeon way. I have never tried to do a Free form but I am willing to give it a go. How are stats done up. Best 3 of 4 6 sided? Plus we decide where to put them?

yes its gonna be like down the dungeon way as far as the way the game will run and your method for rolling up stats is fine
