WASHINGTON, - Rat cells grown onto microscopic silicon chips worked as tiny robots, perhaps a first step towards a self-assembling device, researchers working in the United States reported on Sunday. Read the whole article at MSNBC www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6835423/

No, nano bots will only rule if they are kept strictly controlled. if it gets to the point where they replicate themselves, which we all now some geek will say wouldnt that be cool ha ha ha ha , and figure out a way to do it. then how would u stop the replication? #banghead#

Well, an intelligent designer would make sure that there were mechanisms put into the bots to control their reproduction. The method which appears to be used in the human body is that most cells can only divide a set number of times (a tag on the DNA strand will be cut shorter and shorter with each division). Veering into more difficult methods, you could have them be particularly vulnerable to something, radiation for example, although with -like creatures (mix of organic and computer) you wouldn't want to do something to make the organic material mutate- ick.
