Looks like he's down to about 31%, which is supposedly lower than Nixon's when he resigned. People keep making a big deal of this and saying that Democrats are going to retake the congress, but I have my doubts. Elected officials get re-elected about 95% of the time, and people have been saying throughout the Bush presidency that Democrats are going to retake such-and-such, and they never have, despite being historically likely to do so. Let's face it, if people weren't smart enough to see that the guys in there were screwing up the country 2 years ago, they're not going to wise up now.

I just heard in a news conference that they were trying to justify the 30% approval rating. They said that 60 some % of Americans think the president is a trustworthy guy. So they were trying to rationalize the low approval with just the war going a little rough and that overall everyone likes him. What a load!!
Sorry, if only 30% of the people think you're doing a good job in office, who cares how many think you're a nice guy. Spin doctors at work.

Well put me down for one who does not think Bush is trustworthy. His whole presidency is based on the WTC attack. If that does not happen, he does not start an illegal war. People would then have had to pay attention to his poor domestic record to boot. Gee we keep running up the national debt, but lets give the rich another tax cut, taking more money away from other programs.

He's not all bad. Mostly, but not all. Heck, if he disgusts enough moderates, maybe we can finally get some reasonable people in the white house and throw out all the damned neo-cons. I think they ought to be hit on the head repeatedly by a non-abridged dictionary until they understand exactly what "conservative" means, because I sure as heck don't think planning unnecessary wars (you probably read that the invasion date in no way depended on anything Saddam did), making radical changes in government agencies, being extremely fiscally irresponsible, and being almost universally corrupt meets any definition I've ever seen.
And I'm not too keen on them claiming religious high ground when they're actively ignoring most of Jesus's teachings. I'm not saying the democrats are all that great in that area, but at least they don't usually go around pretending they're holier than a colander Dick Cheney mistook for a quail.

what a funny term ^ the above is completely unrelated to the following rant it never ceases to amaze me that when this country gets involved in war lately we are automatically the bad guys, cause we end up killing, demoralizing, and maiming the enemy. Golly isn't that what happens during a war? War is hell, bad stuff happens all around, people get killed on both sides, we hate the enemy and if we capture some we do some pretty F$%Ked up stuff to them, then they capture us and return the favor. there is also collateral damage, innocents who get caught in the crossfire and end up dead. but instead of supporting their country we have people out protesting the war, or holding Vomit-ins, where they go behind a public building and vomit on it cause the war "makes them ill" well Whaaaa. I whole-heartedly support this war and honestly think we should just blow Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan off the map. OK I'm done

I don't know about calling it an illegal war, but it definetly uncalled for. I've never felt any threat from Sadam to the United States existed. Only to our allies in Isreal, and that was not that recent. We don't need to be there at all. I support our troops 100%. It's not their choice to be there. They go where they are sent. It's just another attempt at a crusade. No wonder the entire Muslim world hates us. We've only been attacking them for over 1,000 years now.
Didn't like Bush's speach on immigration last night. Seems like he's trying to please everybody instead of fixing the problem. What is so bad about making illegal occupancy a felony? They already broke the law to be here. I don't get that at all. We should have used the national protest day to round them all up and bus them back to Mexico. Screw every illegal here.
I'm all for immigration...we are a nation of immigrants. But, do it legally and learn the damn language. That's what my forfathers did...that's what I expect everyone else to do.
There's my 2 cents.

Favorite quote: "I do support the troops. I think they'd be much safer at home."

Why? I am curious to know if there is some logical thought behind it because the comment was so gormless.
