My husband is a mad Arsenal fan - he used to live near the ground in London (I lived in Wimbledon but they're not really a team worth supporting).
I always loathed football (soccer) because of its past association with violence and beered-up louts, but over the years it has gradually worn me down and at the weekend I actually found myself shouting at the TV during one of their games - I just wondered if anyone else had gradually come to enjoy a sport that they previously hated?

I was at universal studios in Orlando, Florida once. and there were two large tour groups you know the ones who run around with the little colored flags and it just so happened that the soccer world cup was on the TV in the bar in the park. (France and Brazil I think ) cause the tour groups were French and Brazilians they were all crowded in the bar screaming hooting and carring on about the soccer match, I've never seen anyone so fired up about soccer before. I forget who won but the tour group of the losing team was crying after the game.

Yeah - I've seen mu hubby close to tears after a loss against the HATED Manchester United! I've also seen him jumping around the room screaming when we beat them in the FA cup final! (almost broke my ceiling light by waving a cushion around madly in the air!)
Only time I've cried at sport is when Wales won the Six Nations after 27 years of waiting! FANTASTIC! Now rugby, there's a real sport!

It really is a shame the more people in the States don't follow "Soccer". The game at it's highest level is unbelievable to watch. It is like a Giant Chess game, drop back, regroup and attack. Yes it can move slow but it is fantastic to watch. I love when ESPN has Champions League games on, it is truely a sport to behold at its highest level.
