But who will write the next eight books of the "wheel of time". How will they match his undriven plots, and over-complicated borderline ridiculous character dynamics? Tell me!!! WHHHYYYY? !!!!!!!!! #drink#

Yeah, Grond's pretty much summed up what I thought when I heard the news. I guess it was obvious that he was having problems, since it had really been too long between books for someone like him.
I'm hoping they get someone good to polish up what he was working on for the 12th book- apparently it would be the last, or at least next-to-last, volume, and it's possible he left enough notes for someone to get the basic plot of the ending written the way he wanted. Maybe there's someone with the skills of Christopher Tolkien to go through the massive material and make some sense out of it all. Here's hoping.

Yea, boy am I glad I stopped reading em at like book 7 or something...
Hmmm... let's see how many useless subplots we can come up with while maintaining the characters as either totally one dimensional and flat or lacking any coherency at all. We'll call it a series, a cycle! Yeah, that's it...

I think book 4 or 5 ended in the exact place it began without actually having most of the necessary elements of effective story and I think someone killed Galadon.

No, its the cause of the most interesting 24 hours on this message board, and the most irritating 1 month, all wrapped in one delightful ball of stupid!

I remember reading a while back that RJ had a team of writers that would flesh out his ideas and then he would compile them into a book.

I quit reading after the 4th. It just didn't keep me wanting to wait for the next book. Thats the key for me, if I want the next book NOW, not a year from now, it gets a thumbs up. Of course I always have to wait, unless I discover something that has been written already.
