Not the old one- they're making a new computer-animated version. I'm excited, in a "please don't screw up, please don't screw up" kind of way. They've got a lot to live up to, and the original movie was quite good. I still can't believe some of the voices they got. Anyway, the movie website is here: www.transformersmovie.com/

OK, on the subject of voices, I heard that Peter Cullen, the original voice of Optimus Prime from the 1980's, will be reprising his role in the new movie, and that Frank Welker has sent in an audition tape for Megatron. Yeah!

I'm having some serious issues with some things that loki informed me about this movie. like Bumblebee being a camero for instance HE'S A FRIGGIN VW BUG DAMMIT!!! why do some people have to mess with the crap that should remain the way it was intended. he also told me that megetron it a jet plane and not a gun or cannon

This movie was a whole lot better than I thought. I am looking forward to going and seeing it over again. I'll leave it at that, don't want to ruin it.

Darned copyright infrigements preventing things. VW had no problem allowing him to be a beetle in the first place, why now? Unless they too where worried that someone would screw up the movie.
I'm looking forward to seeing it

My thoughts on the movie. Overall I thought it sucked but had a few good elements in it.
What sucked:
1. I hope none of those actors ever work again. I'm convinced that any movie John Voight is in is doomed for failure. The voice acting was bad also. Peter Cullen sounded old and didn't have the vibrancy of his previous work. Did they just steal the lines from the Matric for Agent Smith? Mega-AGENTSMITH-tron (once he spoke) took me right out of the movie and had me thinking about Matrix. This was disappointing since I thought Hugo Weaving was fantastic in V for Vendetta.
2. The story was so stupid and simplistic it boggles my mind. Actually was there even a story or was it just a premise? Ok, so we have these evil robots that will kill and destroy everything to get an item. *Ding* (bright idea) lets take it to a CITY and have the military take care of them there. The city is also a great place to inflict mass casualties. <sarcasm> ROFL How did Bumblebee figure out to make the artifact small? Why would or should it be able to become small? Just so a human can run with it through a crowded city? hmmm
3. The Autobots acted like a bunch of idiotic toys (umm yeah). They swore to defend the humans and not cause them harm but they tore up most of the city as much as the Decepticons did and in the process I'm sure they kill a whole bunch of people.
4. The action was way too fast, the camera was too close or too far to capture the meaning of the scene, and oft times the scenes were too dark or cluttered.
5. The size of the robots kept changing throughout the movie. One time they are like 30-40 feet tall and other times they are small enough to fit into normal human buildings.
6. Their attempt to interject humor was irritating and became campy.
7. Why can't a 30 foot robot running after a 5'8'' human running at full speed catch him? And how did a human who just came into contact with an ancient alien artifact, of unimaginable complexity, figure out a way to use it?
8. WAY WAY WAY too long for a story this simplistic. It should have been no more than 89 minutes.
What I liked:
1. The transformation sequences and the whirly bits. 2. The very *friendly* personty actresses but even they annoyed me since I realized they had absolutely no reason to be in the movie except to have a distraction from the poor script.
In the words of the true Optimus Prime, "There can be only one!" and this will be the only movie for the Michael Bayformers. Hopefully somebody else will make a better sequel.

I have to agree with you here I was a little shocked at the agent smith as megaton thing. The rest of it wasn’t that bad.
“2. The story was so stupid and simplistic it boggles my mind. Actually was there even a story or was it just a premise? Ok, so we have these evil robots that will kill and destroy everything to get an item. *Ding* (bright idea) lets take it to a CITY and have the military take care of them there. The story was a little simple, but who ever accused the Transformer story line of being deep in the first place. It did seem a little forced to me but I can live with that. I have to agree that taking it to a city was a dumb idea but If you have about 10 seconds to come up with a place to take an dangerous object so it can be picked up and flown to safety, and you aren’t well acquainted with the area, the closest major city seems like a good idea. Well working on the basic premise of the movie that the big cube can be shrunk down why wouldn’t Bumblebee know how to shrink it? Its from his world, they have been looking for it or any sign of it for a long time they would all probably know everything there is to know about it.
“3. The Autobots acted like a bunch of idiotic toys (umm yeah). They swore to defend the humans and not cause them harm but they tore up most of the city as much as the Decepticons did and in the process I'm sure they kill a whole bunch of people.”
Really, this view of things is kind of strange, taking into account the mistake that they made to take the cube to the city, now that they are there they should just stand aside and let the Decepticons have it? So they should ignore the threat to the entire world population so that they can avoid a few casualties? That’s not a winning strategy.
“4. The action was way too fast, the camera was too close or too far to capture the meaning of the scene, and oft times the scenes were too dark or cluttered.”
Wow I had the opposite opinion, except for a few times, I thought the action was easy to follow. Some of it was a bit fast especially the, transformations, but they were no slower in the original series unless there was no reason for the transformers to rush them.
“5. The size of the robots kept changing throughout the movie. One time they are like 30-40 feet tall and other times they are small enough to fit into normal human buildings.”
Wait…what? They were 30-40 feet the entire time, the only time that they entered buildings was when they were large enough to accommodate their enormous size. The hover dam had huge interior spaces, the building at the end was obviously large inside, “cavernous’ would be a better description of it. And any other time they entered a building it was by smashing their way in.
“6. Their attempt to interject humor was irritating and became campy.”
I agree with this the humor was a lot forced, and mostly lame.
“7. Why can't a 30 foot robot running after a 5'8'' human running at full speed catch him? And how did a human who just came into contact with an ancient alien artifact, of unimaginable complexity, figure out a way to use it?”
Yeah this made no sense, he should have been easy to catch even with everyone delaying the Decepticons. But as to using the artifact, he never did, he fell with it once and it accidentally activated, and the only other thing he did with it was push it into Megatron’s chest. I don’t think destroying something when you are give instructions on how to do it constitutes use.
“8. WAY WAY WAY too long for a story this simplistic. It should have been no more than 89 minutes.”
What and miss all the cool action scenes? No way, this movie was non stop awesome action from start to finish, well almost. It was a bit slow at the beginning.
Personally I liked the movie; it had some flaws, but all movies do, but all in all it was a good film.

For some reason this thought just occurred to me. Since some of the Transformers use earth weapons (bullets and missiles), do they ever run out of supply or is it an endless amount of ammo? If it is endless then where does it come from?

Well, consider that you never see a transformer "eat", but does that mean they don't. Energon is a great excuse, I love it, but what if the transformers, beings capable not only of transforming, but altering what they transform into, could internally manufacture all necessary parts from consumed raw material.
