Looking for people interested in an online rpg here. Low-med level, Puzzles, Some Indirect/Unconventional combat (very little melee, mostly running, diplomacy and problem solving to avoid/escape direct confrontations), lots of role playing, skills checks and the like.
The idea is to run a series of unrelated adventures ranging from scooby-doo, swashbuckeling/sinbad, Aladin and Grimm fairy tale type plots and settings. These may include naratives from songs, books or poems, thus the "Bards Tales". These adventures could be anywhere, even planescape but will adhere to standard ADnD 3.5 rules.
Any and only standard core-rules classes may apply, special races can be played only by DM approval and should only include creatures with no or little innate, supernatural or spell like abilities . Levels start at 1st and will most likely max at around 5th level (no more than 7th or 8th due to the nature of these adventures.)
If interested, please post here. When I have at least 3 or more players we may begin.

Could you use a REAL female player? Or is this just for guys pretending to be a female?

Actually it's only for females pretending to be guys but I'll make an exception for some. =p

Thank you darling. Now, since you have all the books, I'll be expecting you to help me with my character, since my 3E/3.5E skills are rather lacking. Ooooo, Oooo, I could bring back my halfling paladin.....she's a hoot to play. ;D CLANG!!!

That's fine. She'll have to start out at level 1.
Characters with a humorous twist or "defect" are encouraged but keep in mind how your peculiar characteristics will effect your role playing and problem solving.
1 down, 2 to go.

well, I have no problem with you guys rolling the stats table top style. What I do is have you all roll 4d6 then reroll 1's and if you like, subtract from one score to add to another. If you wish to use the point buy system I suppose you may do that too.
There are some stipulations here though, 1) No stats above 19 unless standard for your race 2) no more than two stats at 19 3) if you have, by chance, more numbers than you can place in your ability scores or if you wish to do so, you may place additional numbers in a skill(s) of your choice.
Also, no evil alignments allowed.
The adventures are intended for just good ol' fashion fun but many of them will have dark overtones and your characters can die from stupid mistakes. While some of these adventures may be light hearted, some may well be very dark and heavy.
There will be urban settings as well as wilderness settings. The puzzles, traps and situations will of course be based on the enviroment. A Bard is fine and does not necessarily mean he/she will not be suited to nature but will be more comfortable in an urban setting. A ranger would be just hte opposite.

Very general backstory: Garrett was raised by his mother, who was a member of a wandering merchants caravan, much like the gypsies of early modern Europe. He never knew his father, who was a "towny," as his mother called him. They only rarely spoke of him, though his mother seemed to harbor no ill will towards Garrett's father.
They traveled around the country, stopping in towns to buy supplies that they could not make on their own, and to sell their wares that they produced, mostly tin goods and crafts of wood, leather, and textiles. They dealt with many kinds of people, giving Garrett the opportunity and reason to learn the languages of the people with which they did business. Garrett often got into trouble when they stopped into town, because he was very good at remaining unseen and silent, and seemed to be almost supernaturally nimble and quick-witted. On more than one occasion he was forced to flee along the rooftops of the town, hiding until he could eventually make his way back to the caravan.
When he came of age, Garrett decided to leave the caravan and find his own way, a decision that his mother fully supported. She told him he was welcome back whenever he wanted to visit, but he doesn't want to return until he has something to show for himself.

Now you all know The bards and their songs When hours have gone by I'll close my eyes In a world far away We may meet again But now hear my song About the dawn of the night Let's sing the bards' song
Tomorrow will take us away Far from home No one will ever know our names But the bards' songs will remain Tomorrow will take it away The fear of today It will be gone Due to our magic songs
There's only one song Left in my mind Tales of a brave man Who lived far from here Now the bard songs are over And it's time to leave No one should ask you for the name Of the one Who tells the story
Tomorrow will take us away Far from home No one will ever know our names But the bards' songs will remain Tomorrow all will be known And you're not alone So don't be afraid In the dark and cold 'Cause the bards' songs will remain They all will remain
In my thoughts and in my dreams They're always in my mind These songs of hobbits, dwarfs and men And elves Come close your eyes You can see them too

I'd love to play a half-elf bard, unless the party already has a bard. What's Jeffy playing? I'll roll up my stats and post them in a day or so.
I love Mary's halfling paladin...LMAO...she's hillarious.

If you're gonna run a bard, I may reallocate some skill points and such - my rogue is built for interaction to a large extent. I don't mind doing this, originally I was gonna make a thief-acrobat type of rogue but I didn't want the party to be sans an investigator/fast-talker.
When you post your sheet I'll look over mine again. Make it however you like and I'll adapt the rogue to suit.
I also look forward to meeting the halfling pally. Never seen one of those.

Hey Dimitri, you may want to check your math again. As a rouge you get 4+int modifier (x4 at first level) for skill points, thereafter it is simply 4+int mod.

Rogue is 8+INT mod at every level, 1st level x4, human gives one extra at each level, 4 extra at 1st level. Links to SRD below: www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/rogue.htmwww.d20srd.org/srd/races.htm#humansIf this is a problem, I will likely go with another class - Garrett needs skill points to work. If you are right, Kaber, rogue needs rebuilding by WotC in the worst way. Oh yea, darned 4E... Heck, Bard gets 6+INT and I think Ranger does, too. Off the top of my head, Barbarian and Druid get 4, maybe someone else I'm not thinking of. MOD: Oops, Garrett is 1 skill point to high even by my numbers, should be 52 not 53... 13x4 = 52. Waiting for your decision about rogue skill points in general before I start tweaking.

I'm cool w/you being a rogue, my bard may want to learn stealth and lockpicking from you. Not for nothing, 8+4=12 not 13 where'd you get one xtra skill point for being human? Oopps, PHB pg 13, Human's get one xtra skill point/level and four at first level, but wouldn't it be 12 x 4 = 48 +4 =52. Silly me, you are correct sir. 52. Anyway, my character will be in the next post. Glad to have you aboard.
