May of next year, Iron Man comes to the big screen. Does anyone else have a problem with Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark. He is not one I have in mind as a Super Hero.

Yeah, that's a little bit of a goofy choice. Hey they could get Ben Affleck. . .

From the pics I've seen of RDJ he looks like Tony Stark. The Iron man suits looks fantastic also.

I thought of Tony Stark as more of a pretty boy type. Don't know if I would have cast RDJ either. Who would have been better in that role? Might have been better to cast a complete unknown.

Actually, from what he has been doing lately, Casey Afleck might have worked.

From all the pics I've seen RDJ definitely looks the part. And like him or hate him, he's a versitile actor w/some good and bad roles.
I am looking forward to this movie.

Agreed, I think RDJ is a very good actor and he should be able to play the alcoholic Tony Stark quite well. The other reason I like RDJ is because he looks like and is a mature man rather than all the young, hairless boys they have in the remakes these days.

Yes, I think RDJ is a very good choice, since it's not like Stark WANTED to be a superhero. He was just an affluent playboy who liked to have a good time and was thrust into the role by his injury. Seems like RDJ would barely have to act.

I definately see a resemblance between RDJ and Tony Stark. I think he's a good enough actor and like Rincewind said, it shouldn't be THAT hard of a role.

What kinda standard are we looking for here??? I can dislike a guy's actions and choices, but I can still like the actor. I mean ripping on something before seeing it, really doesn't give it a chance. Now those of you who don't know me can ask any of the PAHAWG players, I'm a laid back, easy-going guy. But I think we're jumping the gun and laying into a guy for his past. And if you think that any actor in the big H is clean think again...I'd bet every last one of the big actors have skeletons and vices. The media just targets who they want.
So I'll step down from the soapbox and get off my high horse and say either give it a chance or don't see the movie.
'Nuff said.

Mayhap you should listen to what others have actually said before getting ON that soapbox. We're not ripping on the movie, and are barely laying into RDJ. We're actually saying it works rather well, even if I keep getting the feeling that Olrac is playing Iron Man. So take that high horse and ride off on it until you start making some sense.

I am listening and it sounds like you aren't going to like the movie because of the cast. So don't see it if that's the case, is all I'm saying.

I wasn't knocking the movie. Just suprised at RDJ being cast. I love him. He was great as Charlie Chaplin. Plus a movie is only as good as its script. Look at the first Fantastic Four. Or Catwoman and Electra. Nothing wrong with Jennifer Garner or Halle Berry, but both movies were awful.

After reading over the posts, I agree that the movie itself is not being bashed, and that this is just a pro/con discussion of the actor playing the main part, namely Robert Downey Jr. RDJ's personal life is just that, and if he gets his act together to be able to play a movie part, and well, then that is what he, and the movie, will be judged on. An actor will make or break a movie, no matter how well the script is, and it doesn't have to be RDJ, it could be one of his co-stars that mucks it up. I am looking forward to seeing the movie, as Ironman was always one of my faves.
