Did you guys go much further after I left?
Which I appoligize for, for suddenly just getting up and leaving. Sleep was knocking real hard and I was starting to loose that battle. Felt myself leaning and nodding.

I think we made a bit more headway in solving the mystery but we called it a night soon after you left. It was just good ole role-playing being detectives.

woo hoo! Many thanks. Now there is a reason for me to go get my gaming backpack out of the truck. Can you also post a recap of what we have learned and figured out in our current adventure. Maybe we can solve the adventure and get the heck out of there. Not that I'm not enjoying it, I'm actually enjoying them a lot given their creepy nature. The whole mood of Ravenloft keeps me on edge which is great.

Did I read that right, Ravenloft makes you on edge...is that why Grizgard is trying to h-ump the help? ? His animal side is definitely coming out...squeezing the maid's arse? !!!!!

Ok, this is what I remember, with some inaccuracies, from our gaming. In no particular order:
1. Someone from the village asked us to investigate the attacks from hounds. 2. The hounds are made of straw and mud. This leads me to think that they are summoned or created by someone or something. 3. Ann? and Michael? were killed in the swamp. 4. Ann was to marry a guy (can't recall his name) who was the brother of Michael. 5. Michael's brother goes into the swamp every night with his hounds. 6. Apparently Ann and Michael died a long long time ago. We know this because the gardener is an old guy and he said he started working there when he was a young kid. 7. The brother hasn't aged, like the gardener did, and we suspect he is a ghost or something reliving the same moment in time. 8. Ann's and Michael's bodies were not found?
So from what I can surmise there are two parties related to an event in this dilemma we face: a. The brother is alive (as a ghost or something) either reliving the events of the death or is cursed or something as result of the death. Now the question is did he kill Ann and Michael or did something else happen>
b. Ann and Michael's death. If their bodies weren't found then lets assume they aren't dead. That would mean they are either alive somewhere or they are undead (lol, I love D&D logic, yes they must be undead of they aren't dead.).
I see a cycle here but I can't seem to figure out what the steps of the cycle are. I do know that if this theory holds true then we need to break the cycle somehow by taking out one or more pieces of the cycle.
What are your thoughts? Please clarify any details I might have forgotten or gotten wrong.

Since I have "played" through this adventure before, I am not going to give to much help here. I will say this pigdish ... you're on the right thoughts. books, library, curse, Barron (Manor Lord), butler, needing to break a cycle ... SWAMP ... are all clues to solving this. Your memory and summary is correct from what i can remember. You just need to do a little more investigating. Just don't fall for Kaber's mental games he likes to play while DM'g in Ravenloft ... ;D

Our beloved DM's mind is like the quicksand in the swamps we find ourselves in. Deadly and unseen.
I totally forgot about the butler and the really forthcoming maid. She'll really be a "forthcoming" maid after Gizgard is through with her.

Yes, beware the bog of my mind. Since some of you have already went through this adventure I have taken the liberty of mixing it up a bit so, while the adventure is much the same the core is different. Muahahaha!
